About The Wellmet Group

The WellMet Group is a not-for-profit organization, founded in 1999, that is committed to educating and expanding women's roles in philanthropy, to building and strengthening the New York City community through pooled investments, and to demonstrating the impact of knowledgeable, targeted grantmaking. Our primary concentration is on emerging grassroots organizations in New York City’s five boroughs.

The WellMet Group makes grants of up to $20,000 to qualifying programs. The Group supports direct human services in these two areas of interest:

  1. community and social service, with an emphasis on programs that develop self-sufficiency

  1. and education, with an emphasis on youth.

Grants may support general operating expenses, a program to enhance the capacity of an organization to function better, or programs that directly supply services to your constituency. The WellMet Group does not underwrite fundraising events.

We are particularly interested in helping emerging community and grassroots organizations. Groups seeking to apply that do not yet have their own not-for-profit status may apply through a related organization that does have its 501 c3 determination. Groups must be invited to apply; unsolicited applications are not accepted. Grants are for one year only and are not renewed.
